Commenting on Vietnam’s matters, Glick said: “It is remarkable to see that the two nations have come together to solve some war legacy issues and form partnership in order to build bridges while prior to that, distances exist. So in Vietnam, we launched dioxin remediation project with the Ministry of National Defense, that is the third project we have done in Vietnam”.
Glick added that: “The project we launched recently was remarkable, land is reborn and now being used for building projects. It is remarkable that the two adversaries now form together for the Vietnamese people. So that was great”.
USAid has launched a lot of projects and Glick said she had give credit to the Vietnamese people. There is a US program named United States President Emergency Plan for AIDS relief, some people call it as HEFTA. The United States Presidential Plan for AIDS relief was launched by President in 2013 and continued to cross the administrations, President Obama and now President Trump’s administration.
When HEFTA was launched in 2003, there were 15 pilot countries, Vietnam was among the countries chosen. In Vietnam, the government of Vietnam is now close to reaching the point where it is funding itself the treatment of antiretroviral of the majority of the Vietnamese people who are dealing with HIV. This is an exceptional, extraodinary statistics. This number will show you all: 97% funding, that’s amazing.
US AID representative shared that USAID now is coordinating with the Vietnamese’s Ministry of Health and support at-risk population, the group of population at risk with HIV. Vietnam has announced to be HIV Free in 2030, eliminating causes of death in Vietnam, Glick showed the belief in that target.
US AID representative expressed surprise and happiness when visiting Fulbright university in Ho Chi Minh city. US aid representative highly appreciated the education level of students in Fulbright university and in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Bonnie Glick, US delegation also visited the Vietnamese Customs and appreciated the quality of Vietnam Customs’ work because Vietnamese Customs has done really well to stop the transhipment of goods from China to Vietnam illegally in an effort to evade tarriffs.
