Vietnam Disburses $27.2 Billion Foreign Loans in 2010-2015: Report

BizLIVE - Vietnam has disbursed up to $27.16 billion worth of foreign concessional loans and official development assistance in the 2010-2015 period, or 88.7% of the committed amount in the period.

Of the total, concessional loans granted by foreign donors mount to $25.28 billion and official development assistance (ODA) is $1.89 billion in the period, according to a government report seen by the Vietnam Economic Times.
In the first nine months of 2015, the government borrowed $2.73 billion in concessional loans and ODA, including $2.7 billion in concessional loans. The amount could reach $3.5 billion for the whole 2015, says the report.
The report notes that the transport, environment, urban development, energy and manufacturing sectors are the biggest consumers of ODA and concessional loans.
Disbursements of ODA and foreign concessional loans have been on the rise, rising from $3.54 billion in 2010 to $5.66 billion in 2014. The realized amount could reach $5 billion this year.
ODA and foreign concessional loans are among the largest sources of foreign currency supply for Vietnam, besides overseas remittances, foreign direct investment and exports.
