Vietnam, China Sign $1.94 Billion in Trade Deals ahead of Xi’s Visit

Vietnam and China on Thursday signed 83 trade agreements worth a combined $1.94 billion, news agency Xinhua said.
The deals were signed during a visit to Vietnam by a Chinese group comprising of more than 60 representatives from over 30 Chinese companies in fields of textile, pharmaceutical, agricultural products, petrochemical, commercial trading, among others.
The group aimed at promoting trade ties between the two countries, according to the Chinese news agency.
The deals came ahead of the arrival of on Friday to Vietnam by Chinese President Xi Jinping to participate in the APEC CEO Summit and pay a state official visit to the Southeast Asian country. This is Xi’s first overseas trip after his reelection as the top leader in China last month.
