The number of business startups in 2015 hit a record high in 2015.
As many as 7,901 businesses have been given a license for establishment in December, rising nearly 20% from the previous month, the Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reported, citing data of the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
The number of startups in December has brought the total number in the whole 2015 to 94,754, a record high on a yearly basis. The figure represents a 30% increase from a year earlier, thanks to the effect of the revised Law on Business.
Between July 1, 2015, when the revised law came into force, and December 15, approximately 47,000 were set up, said Tran Thi Hong Minh, head of the ministry’s Business Management Department.
Data of the General Statistics Office showed that in the first 11 months this year, 86,853 firms won licenses for establishment with a total registered capital of 538.7 trillion dong ($24 billion), rising 28.1% in number and 37.7% in value from the same period of 2014.
Meanwhile, 8,468 companies were dissolved in the period, down 2.2% year-on-year, and 62,713 firms ceased operations temporally, up 21.4%.
