As many as 5,584 enterprises won an establishment license in Vietnam in February, representing a 19% decline from a year earlier, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO
Their combined registered capital increased 17.3% year-on-year to 53.8 trillion dong ($2.4 billion).
Meanwhile, the number of businesses suspending operation in the month declined 8.6% to 4,015 and those closed down totaled 857, down 19.3%.
Between January and February, 13,904 companies were set up with a combined capital of 113 trillion dong ($5.04 billion), rising 1% and 45.8%, respectively.
Those businesses that halted operation reached 16,471 in the two-month period, climbing 17.3% year-on-year.
