SK C&C, the system integration affiliate of South Korea’s SK Group, said that it has signed a memorandum of understanding Vietnamese company ITD in Hanoi on March 15 to increase cooperation on the country’s intelligence transportation system (ITS) projects, according to Business Korea.
ITD, the largest transportation IT system provider in Vietnam, has been building and operating transportation systems of major Vietnamese cities, managed by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport.
Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly establish a task force for ICT projects to push for additional ITS projects in Vietnam based on NEXCORE-ITS, which is currently being applied to an ITS project for Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway.
The task force will seek new ICT business opportunities in other sectors such as smart conversion security systems as well as ITS projects of the Ministry of Transport.
Vietnam is seeking to upgrade and expand its transport networks throughout the country and adopt various ITS systems in order to prepare a trampoline for foreign investments and economic growth.
