Singapore conglomerate Semcorp is gearing up a plan to invest in an integrated software park in the central city of Da Nang
, among the most active localities in Vietnam, according to the municipal e-portal.
The local government has required its three relevant departments to prepare a land lot in Hai Chau district, on the bank of the Han river, for Semcorp’s project.
According to the city’s Investment Trade Agency, Singapore is taking the lead among foreign investors in Da Nang. Committed investments from the city-state has amounted to $782 million, with a focus on manufacturing, real estate, construction and education.
Da Nang is seeking for more Singaporean investments in infrastructure development, hi-tech, ICT, healthcare, education, and startup and entrepreneurship promotion.
Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP
), a joint venture between Semcorp Development and Vietnam’s state-owned Becamex IDC Corporation, has developed seven VSIP-branded industrial parks across in Vietnam, with five operational and two under construction.
The two sides in September signed two memorandums of understanding to add 1,500ha to the current 6,660ha of the existing seven VSIP projects.
