Vietnam B.V., a subsidiary of Russian oil major Rosneft, has found a Wild Orchid gas condensate field at Block 06.1 offshore Vietnam, according to international media reports.
Rosneft started drilling the well, the company’s first drilling project as an operator in the international waters, in March 2016 with the Hakuryu-5 semi-submersible drilling rig, operated by Japan Drilling Co. (JDC).
“Wild Orchid gas condensate field was discovered on the Block 06.1. Reserves and commercial feasibility of discovery are being clarified now. Synergy prospects exist, considering the vicinity of Lan Tay producing platform also operated by Rosneft Vietnam,” the press service said.
The Lan Tay platform is also operated by Rosneft Vietnam.
Large-scale 3D seismic surveys are also planned on Block 06.1 to increase tapping of existing resources and exploration of potential offshore pools, the press service reported.
