Mekong Capital announced Thursday its fourth fund Mekong Enterprise Fund III (MEF III) invested in Ho Chi Minh City-based ABA Corporation, marking its second investment since its last funding round.
The Vietnam-focused fund manager, however, did not disclose the deal value.
Launched in May 2015, MEF III is a private equity fund and currently has $112.5 million in committed capital. It typically targets investments ranging from $6 million to $15 million, and can make both minority and buy-out investments.
MEF III focuses on investments in Vietnamese consumer-driven businesses such as retail, restaurants, consumer products, and consumer services.
The fund last month invested $6.9 million in Wrap and Roll Restaurant JSC, which runs the Wrap & Roll restaurant chain.
ABA was founded in 2008 as a temperature controlled transport provider. In 2016, it entered the cold storage business through the acquisition of a cold storage facility in Hanoi.
The company provides integrated cold chain solutions for businesses whose products include pharmaceuticals, meats, fruit, vegetables, dairy products and frozen goods.
ABA’s clients include several of the largest modern trade retail and consumer goods companies in Vietnam such as Big C, VinMart, METRO, Unilever, and BEL.
