Indian cult motorcycle Royal Enfield entered Vietnam, which is the world's fourth-largest two-wheeler market but already saturated, with its three popular models, the Times of India reported.
The company on Thursday opened its first flagship store in Ho Chi Minh City, with Al Naboodah International (VN) as its official dealer in the country. This is part of the company’s focus to build and expand presence in South Asian countries.
“The company endeavors to reinvent and lead the global mid-sized motorcycle segment (250-750cc), and Southeast Asia is a critical market for us in this global strategy,” said Royal Enfield President Rudratej (Rudy) Singh.
“This segment is expanding in India and is a huge opportunity for Royal Enfield across the world. Vietnam has a large population that is young and commutes on two-wheelers, and is now aspiring to adopt the right medium of self-expression and exploration," he added.
The company already has presence in Indonesia through two exclusive stores in Jakarta and Bali, and has the first exclusive gear store outside India in Jakarta. In Thailand, it has an exclusive store in Bangkok.
Vietnam is home to nearly 50 million motorcycles and around three million two wheelers are sold in the countries per years. The market is dominated by five producers namely Honda, Yamaha, Piaggio, Suzuki and SYM.
