The consumer price index (CPI
), a gauge of inflation, in Hanoi
has likely edged up 0.89% year-on-year in 2015, according to data of the municipal statistics office.
The transport and post and telecommunications are the two goods categories that have seen their prices down in the year, while prices of the remaining nine categories have gone up. Among them, education services have posted the sharpest year-on-year increase of 4.37%.
The restaurant and food services group, which makes up the largest portion in the basket for CPI calculation, is likely to edge up 0.95% year-on-year. On breaking down, the price of food has been down 4.12%, that of foodstuffs is up 1.44%, and that of eating-out services up 2.35%.
The price of gold has declined 4.74% year-on-year while that of the U.S. dollar has been up 5.17%. Gold and the greenback are not used for CPI calculation.
