GE Renewable Energy has signed a $9-million service contract with Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) to provide parts for 400MW Tri An hydropower plant in the Southeast Asian country.
Under the contract with EVN, GE will replace control, governing and excitation systems at Tri An project, which is located on the Dong Nai river.
The new digital control system is designed to increase the 4x100MW Tri An plant’s efficiency.
GE will also provide equipment design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and trial run services, as well as balance-of-power.
The Tri An hydropower plant, which was put into operation in 1991, generates nearly 1.76 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity per year.
