Foreign Investors Flock to Vietnam Southern Province

BizLIVE - Vietnam’s southern province of Binh Duong has attracted $1.63 billion in foreign direct investment in the year to date, up 40% from the same period of 2014.

The provincial authority last week licensed 23 new projects worth $203 million and the capital raising totaling $328 million of 15 other projects.
Among the newly-licensed projects, South Korea’s SJF Vina Company will invest $30 million to produce auto spare parts, and Taiwan’s CLK Refrigeration Company will pour $18 million to provide refrigerated warehouse service.
Meanwhile, Procter & Gamble Indochina Company Ltd. had the capital of a shaving razor producing plant hiked by $48.5 million to $63.5 million. Singapore’s Rheem Vietnam, which specializes in producing home appliances, lifted its capital by $16 million to $26 million.
Foreign-invested enterprises had 2,548 valid projects with a combined capital of $22.06 billion as of October 15. Of the sum, they have rolled out 1,506 projects worth $13.85 billion in the province’s industrial parks.
The province, which is adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City, is home to 28 industrial parks with a total area of nearly 10,000 hectares.
