BizLIVE - Foreign direct investment in Vietnam reached $2.8 billion in the year to February 20, jumping 135% from a year earlier.

Foreign investors committed to invest a combined $2.8 billion in Vietnam from the start of the year to February 20, representing a 135% increase from the corresponding period of 2015, data of the General Statistics Office (GSO) shows.
The investors won approval to pour $1.95 billion in 291 newly-licensed projects in the period, rising 167.5% in value and 96.6% in volume year-on-year. They were licensed to put an additional $898.3 million into 137 operational projects.
Disbursements of foreign direct investment (FDI) gained 15.4% year-on-year to $1.5 billion, according to the government-run office.
Singapore continued to top foreign investors in Vietnam with $435.2 million while Hanoi drew the biggest amount of FDI, at $242.4 million.
