FDI Pledges in Vietnam Amount to $306.3 Billion to Date

Foreign investors have committed to pour $306.3 billion 23,594 projects in Vietnam as of June 2017, providing a boost to one of the fastest growing economies in Asia, according to statistics of the Vietnamese investment ministry.
Among 120 countries and territories investing in Vietnam, South Korea is taking the lead with $54.5 billion. Tech giant Samsung alone have committed to put around $17 billion in the Southeast Asian country. LG and CJ Group are also big investors in Vietnam.
Japan ranks second with $46.19 billion, followed by Singapore and Taiwan.
Up to 59% or $180.7 billion has been funneled into the manufacturing and processing sector while the real estate industry has lured $51 billion.
Ho Chi Minh City, the largest economic hub in the country, has been the most favorite destination when attracting $41.67 billion. Binh Duong, an industrial hub, has drawn $28.66 billion.
According to the ministry, actual foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country has reached an estimated $162.57 billion, or 53% of the committed amount.
