Coca-Cola Vietnam has resumed the operation of its three factories that produce supplemented food drinks in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City after acquiring certificates from the Ministry of Health, the firm’s External Relations Director Nguyen Khoa My told BizLIVE.
After a comprehensive checkup started on June 21, the ministry last week requested 13 different types of Coca-Cola’s nutritional supplement drinks suspended from sales as the beverage maker was not permitted to produce them.
The products on the list included milk drink Minute Maid Nutriboost in orange, strawberry and mango flavors, carbonated energy drink Samurai in strawberry flavor in glass and PET bottles, Samurai in glass and PET bottles, Teppy Orange Drink in glass and PET bottles, sports drink Aquarius in PET bottles and cans, and bottled water Dasani with added minerals and nutrition.
My said in a statement that all Coca-Cola plants in Vietnam have been certified and licensed to produce soft drinks, non-carbonated drinks and bottled beverages.
The external relations director admitted that during an internal checkup a few months ago, the firm found that it needed to meet additional requirements to produce supplemented food drinks with added minerals and nutrition. The firm promptly completed papers to file for the certificates.
“We have obtained the certificates, issued by the Ministry of Health, to produce supplemented food drinks at our plants in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang city. The plants have resumed operations to produce the abovementioned products,” My noted.
