Vietnam enjoyed a trade surplus of $1.15 billion in January 2017, the largest amount for at least the past 12 months, data of the General Department of Vietnam Customs showed.
The Southeast Asian country raked in $14.34 billion from shipping goods abroad, rising 5.7% from a year earlier, and spent $13.19 billion on imports, up 3.9%, the department said in an online statement on February 11.
The government-run General Statistics Office reported that the country ran an estimated trade deficit of $100 million in the first month of 2017.
