A delegation of 27 Israeli companies will be accompanying Israeli President Reuven Rivlin on his official visit to Vietnam on March 16-25, in a bid to find partners in the Southeast Asian country.
Joining the delegation are founders and executives from leading Israeli enterprises in six sectors namely agriculture, cyber security, water solutions, education, energy and healthcare. A number of them have already set up operations in Vietnam for years.
Big names in the agribusiness and water solutions include Agrotop, Aquaculture Production Technology, Arad, Argos, and Bickel Flowers.
Representatives from cyber security and technology companies such as Bisec, CommuniTake, MER Group and Orca will also touch Vietnam’s ground.
During the visit, the delegation will attend the Vietnam - Israel Business Forum in Hanoi on March 21 and in Ho Chi Minh City on March 23.
During business-to-business meetings and fact-finding visits, Israeli entrepreneurs will explore the Vietnamese market, meet with the local business community in order to introduce their state-of-the-art technologies and products and to seek for potential cooperation in the future.
During an interview with BizLIVE earlier this year, Israeli Ambassador to Vietnam Meirav Eilon Shahar said Israel-Vietnam trade totaled $2.38 billion in 2015 and the figure was $2.01 billion for the first 11 months of 2016.
In March 2016, the two countries initiated the negotiations on a bilateral free trade agreement in Hanoi. The second round of talks was held in Israel in August and the third one is scheduled for March 2017.
“The two governments and diplomatic missions are making efforts to boost trade and investment in a wide range of sectors. Once being signed, the Israel-Vietnam FTA will remove a significant numbers of trade barriers, thus providing a boost to bilateral trade,” said the ambassador.
