Becamex ITC, a subsidiary of real estate developer Investment and Industrial Development Corporation (Becamex IDC), has asked for permission to invest in a software park at a cost of 24 trillion dong ($1.07 billion) in Hanoi
, local media reported.
The hi-tech zone, which will specialize in software development and digital content, will be built on an area of 70.8 hectares along Vo Nguyen Giap Road, which leads to the Noi Bai International Airport.
The Hanoi People’s Committee, which is looking into Becamex IDC’s proposal, has allowed Becamex ITC to access relevant documents of the municipal Department of Information and Communications to submit a detailed plan on developing the software park before September 30.
Once in place, the software park is expected to create 40,000 jobs and encourage investment and technology transfer.
Company Ltd is building a $470-million software park in Hanoi’s Long Bien district. Its completion is scheduled for 2019.
A concentrated information technology zone in Hanoi’s Cau Giay district is now fully occupied by over 300 companies.
Vietnam’s revenue from information technology reached $49.5 billion in 2015, compared with $7.6 billion in 2010, according to the Information Technology Department under the Ministry of Information and Communications.
