Amata's first project in Bien Hoa has been around since 1994.
Chief executive officer Somhatai Panichewa of Amata Vietnam Pcl told DealStreetAsia that Amata is ready to invest $200 million in a second project in Long Thanh City, a satellite city of Ho Chi Minh City. The total overall budget is expected to be $800 million.
The project is called Amata City Long Thanh and is going to be as large as 3,200 acres of land, which is divided into a portion of 40% industrial estate and 60% accommodations and commercial buildings. The industrial estate alone in Long Thanh will be ready for investors in 2017, the rest will begin in 2019.
Amata’s first success was Amata Bien Hoa, a joint venture of Amata Corporation and Sonadezi Bien Hoa, a state-owned developer of industrial estates in Dong Nai province established in 1994. This was Amata’s first overseas integrated industrial estate.
Amata City Long Thanh is another chapter for Amata Corporation, the Thai conglomerate which has had a foothold in Vietnam for over a decade.
